
1963 - St. Jude begins with Bishop Cole celebrating Holy Eucharist in the mobile chapel of the diocese. Placed on Broad River Road in the rapidly growing St. Andrew's area of Columbia.
1964 - St. Jude is admitted as a mission of the diocese, The Rev. James Rowland, Vicar. Worship is at St. Andrew's elementary while a frame church was built at 2700 Haymarket Road, behind Rush's.
1965 - St. Jude was consecrated by Bishop Pinckney.
1970 - Under the Rev. Charles Weesner, Vicar, a new church building, offices, and classrooms completed with worship space reflecting the liturgical renewal taking place in the Church.
1974 - With the Rev. Robert Long as Vicar and 400+ communicants, St. Jude is admitted as a parish of the Diocese.
1974 to 1979 - St. Jude sends forth more than 150 communicants to new missions of the diocese, including St. Mary's, Columbia; St. Albans, Lexington and St. Francis, Chapin
St. Jude establishes a kindergarten program that becomes well known throughout Columbia
1979 - The Rev. Robert E. Libbey is called as Rector. St. Jude experiences some growth, but it soon becomes evident that the area is highly transient and thus so too the congregation.
1986 - A committee formed to study the possibility of relocation to the rapidly growing Irmo area. In May, the congregation votes to relocate. In July, the parish reverts to mission status, and the church is renamed The Episcopal Church of St. Simon and St. Jude.
1987 - A new building site on Kinley Road is chosen in the fall and dedicated in December.
1988 - Saint Simon and Saint Jude begins worship at Irmo High School in April. In June, ground is broken at the new site.
1989 - First service in the new (roofless) building, on Epiphany (January 6th). First Holy Eucharist, April 30th, followed by a picnic.

1991 - Saint Simon and Saint Jude starts its famous chancel drama program with "A Season to Celebrate". "Christ in the Concrete City", "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever", "Godspell", "The Crucible", "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat", "Nunsense" and "Children of Eden" follow from 1992 - 2001.
1995 - A generous bequest from the estate of Ruth Field makes it possible for SSSJ to move forward with plans for a Christian Education building.
1996 - Amid boisterous celebration, SSSJ becomes a parish of the diocese at diocesan convention, February 6.
1997 - We break ground for new Christian Education building on Pentecost, May 18th.
1998 - Bishop Henderson and a host of former SSSJer's join to dedication the new Ruth Field Christian Education Building on Epiphany (January 6th).
1999 - In September, Bob Libbey retires after 20 years of service as our Rector-Vicar-Rector.
In October, SSSJ launches the homework center at Columbiana Ridge Apartments.
On All Saints Day, the Rev. Frank Smith becomes our interim Rector.
2000 - In August, the Rev. Lynne E. Jones is called as our Rector. We celebrate our first service with her on October 29. Her installation follows in February 2001.
2004 - In January, the Rev. Lynne E. Jones follows a call to Bethesda-by-the-Sea in Florida to serve in pastoral care there.
In July, the Rev. Charles M. Davis, Sr. is called as our Interim Rector.
2006 - In January, the Rev. Charles M. Davis, Sr. becomes our Priest In Charge.
2008 - In September, Fr. Mark Abdelnour becomes our Priest In Charge.
2009 - In October, the Rev. Mark Abdelnour becomes our Rector.
